Zoom releases new features and fixes almost every week. In order to take full advantage of these new features, Zoom must be updated regularly.
This week’s update allows participants to choose their own breakout room, allowing hosts to save time by telling participants which breakout room to join instead of setting the rooms up in advance or manually moving participants. Self-assigned breakout rooms also work well for virtual conferences or fairs, allowing attendees to browse “sessions” or “booths” of interest. Both the host and participants need the latest Zoom software to have access to this feature. Zoom also fixed the bug related to pre-assigned breakout rooms disappearing after the meeting has been edited.
To get the latest Zoom features, check your Mac or PC’s Zoom client for updates each week through the profile icon and select “Check for Updates,” or check your mobile device’s app store for updates.
