“Why Biotech Advances Matter Now More Than Ever”

As part of its series leading up to the presidential debate, the School of Medicine will host a forum titled “Why Biotech Advances Matter Now More Than Ever” Thursday, Sept. 24, at 2 p.m.

The panel will discuss how biotech has adapted during the pandemic: critical investments in biotech research and development, how these investments set up a response to COVID-19 and why the local health care community will be ready for the next crisis.

Mark Chance, vice dean for research at the School of Medicine, will moderate.

Panelists will be:

  • Timothy Chan, director of the Center for Immunotherapy and Precision Immuno-Oncology at Cleveland Clinic;
  • Agata Exner, professor of radiology at Case Comprehensive Cancer Center;
  • Robert Kirsch, chairman of the Department of Bioengineering at CWRU;
  • Harvey Lodish, founding member of Whitehead Institute and professor of biology and bioengineering at MIT.
