After a pause in the Prevention Research Center for Healthy Neighborhoods (PRCHN) seminar series due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the PRCHN will virtually relaunch the series for the 2020-21 academic year. The seminar series will kick off Wednesday, Sept. 16, at noon.
Erika Trapl, PRCHN director, will present “The Equitable Impact of Cleveland’s Tobacco 21 on Youth Access and the Use of Nicotine and Tobacco Products.” All community members and organizations, CWRU staff, faculty, and students are invited to join via Zoom.
Trapl has worked closely with the Cleveland Department of Public Health through the BreatheFree Committee of Healthy Cleveland to inform Cleveland’s original Tobacco 21 policy, which was approved by Cleveland City Council in December 2015 and implemented in April 2016. Her presentation will discuss how Cleveland’s policy has been adopted by retailers across the city and examine changes in tobacco use among high school students since 2015.
Registration is required for this event. All registrants will receive an emailed Zoom link for the seminar. For more information, contact Sarah Koopman Gonzalez at sjk98@case.edu.
