Case Western Reserve University, through the Great Lakes Energy Institute (GLEI), received a $5,000 award from Venturewell to support EnvironFlo, a company that evolved out of the GLEI ThinkEnergy Fellowship Program.
EnvironFlo is developing oil/water separation technology to clean up oil spills. The E-Team Program Stage 1 grant allowed EnvironFlo team members Italo Silva, Oluka Okia and Krista Schoonover to participate in the Venturewell Pioneer workshop the week of June 22. The CWRU team was one of 17 university teams and the only one from Ohio selected in this round.
The Pioneer workshop is an early-stage innovator Training program through which students get to meet mentors and prepare their companies to apply for Stage 2, which is a $20,000 round of funding this fall.
