The Alumni Association’s online alumni directory has been improved. CWRU Connect: Alumni Career Network, a shared resource with the Office of Post Graduate Planning and Experiential Education, offers tools for faculty, staff, students and alumni. Relaunched in March, the new platform includes a component specializing in career networking, allowing members to connect based on career fields, majors and geographic location. Alumni also are available to mentor current students, recent graduates and fellow alumni, as well as connect with faculty. Interested faculty, staff, students and alumni can upload their LinkedIn profile or sign up via email at cwruconnect.case.edu. Then, join communities that share their interests.
This new directory and networking platform is the product of alumnus John Knific (CWR ’09), co-founder, president and chief operating officer of Wisr, a Cleveland-based educational technology company. This engaging online space—allowing alumni and students to easily connect—was honored with a Venture Innovation Award at the 2017 ASU+GSV Summit. Additionally, Knific, who is also an EdTech Exec and DecisionDesk CEO/co-founder, was among Bloomberg Businessweek’s Top 25 Young Entrepreneurs in 2007. Other networking platforms developed by Wisr are being used by CWRU’s Office of Undergraduate Admission. Knific was a recent guest on the CWRU Veale Institute for Entrepreneurship’s CWRU Entrepreneurship Alumni Speaker Series, which features with entrepreneurs and leaders in innovation.
