Peter Zimmerman, professor at the School of Medicine, was called on to advise several health and social ministries in Madagascar, which recently convened an expert panel via video conference call. Zimmerman was joined by infections disease researchers from around the world who are now advising the east African country, which saw its first case of COVID-19 in late March.
The panel is advising on diagnostics, treatment and epidemiology of tracing the pandemic. Participants in this video conference meeting were from a number of ministries in Madagascar, infectious disease researchers from France, and scientists from the World Health Organization/Foundation for Innovative New Diagnostics.
