Jeff Kretschmar, research associate professor at the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences, co-wrote a piece with colleagues from Cleveland State University and the Cuyahoga County Witness/Victim Service Center examining how the criminal justice system responds to stalking cases through interviews with various agencies who serve stalking victims.
The piece, titled “Responding to Stalking Victims: Perceptions, Barriers, and Directions for Future Research,” appeared in the Journal of Family Violence.
Their findings include the discrepancies that exist between public perceptions of stalking and actual stalking behavior, the needs of victims, and obstacles that remain for victims despite the efforts of the system.
