Having to deal with a student whom you suspect is cheating is one of the things faculty members dread. At the next UCITE session, held Oct. 18, attendees and organizers will look at the issue of academic cheating from a variety of perspectives: what drives people to cheat, what we can do to prevent it, how to report, and what the judicial process is once a student is charged with violating the academic integrity guidelines.
Nancy DiIulio, instructor of biology and assistant dean of Undergraduate Studies (the office to which cheating is reported), and Don Kamalsky, associate vice president of Student Affairs, who serves on the Judicial Board that adjudicates violations of academic ethics, will lead the event.
This session will be held from noon to 1 p.m. in the Herrick Room of the Allen Memorial Library Building.
Pizza and sodas will be provided at this session; RSVP to ucite@case.edu.
