Seeking your stories and videos: Share acts of kindness, community at Case Western Reserve

The past few weeks have been a time of incredible tumult for individuals at Case Western Reserve—and around the country and world. Amid a global pandemic of COVID-19, many of the university’s faculty, staff and students have suddenly transitioned to learning, teaching and working remotely, all while needing to adjust to a “new normal” that includes shutdowns of restaurants, schools and businesses.

But amid the uncertainty lies inspiration.

The student leaders who immediately asked that their organizations’ funding be deferred to their peers who needed financial support to move home quickly (and the alumni and donors who also have given generously toward this cause). The parents and families—and our staff—who helped facilitate students’ quick departure from residence halls. The information technology staff helping professors navigate how to best deliver courses to students around the globe. The faculty holding open office hours and sharing words of calm and wisdom (while also preparing for an entirely new mode of course delivery within a matter of days) to help their students in this time of uncertainty. The custodial staff fastidiously working to clean campus facilities to keep our community safe and healthy—and prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Everywhere we look, there are stories of kindness, of caring, of support. Stories that show Case Western Reserve is not just an institution, but a community.

In the weeks to come, The Daily wants to share these stories. Who is working behind the scenes to ensure this semester’s success? What act of kindness did you witness as you moved out of the residence halls? Who has stepped up to support you—physically, mentally and/or emotionally—over the past few weeks?

We want to hear from you. Fill out our form so we can learn more about the outstanding individuals who comprise our community.
