In an effort to increase security and better protect the data Case Western Reserve University users are storing and sharing via Google’s G Suite applications, everyone in the campus community who has registered for two-factor authentication with DUO will be required to use it to access any G Suite tools that require single sign-on authentication.
Beginning March 9, this additional layer of security will be required of all CWRU DUO users to access any Google service, including Gmail, Calendar, Chat, Contacts, Drive, Hangouts, Photos and Sites. To minimize the frequency of two-factor authentication, G Suite retains your login session for up to 14 days.
CWRU users who are not currently registered for two-factor authentication will not be impacted by this change. However, individuals are encouraged to register for Duo Security two-factor authentication to ensure additional security when accessing CWRU and Google websites on a smartphone, tablet, laptop or desktop.
Users are encouraged to use the DUO mobile app for the second authentication, instead of a call to an office phone or other landline, to ensure access from multiple locations, if needed.
