Hunter Peckham, Donnell Institute Professor of Biomedical Engineering and Orthopaedics, was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award by the North American Neuromodulation Society (NANS). Peckham received the award at the NANS 23rd Annual Meeting in Las Vegas on Jan. 24.
Peckham, a Distinguished University Professor, is also the associate director of technology transfer at the Cleveland Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) Center, co-director of the MetroHealth Rehabilitation Institute at MetroHealth Medical Center, and founder of the Institute for Functional Restoration at CWRU. Peckham’s internationally known research is focused on the advancement of neuroprostheses that use functional electrical stimulation (FES) in order to improve hand/arm control in quadriplegic patients.
