Siegal Lifelong Learning presents a Nobel Laureates Lecture series, highlighting each of the six Nobel Prize winners from 2019. CWRU leading experts in related fields, many of whom have professional ties to the prize winners, will present an overview of the Nobel Laureate, their research, its significance and why they were ultimately awarded a Nobel Prize. The presentations will be held Tuesdays in March and April from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Landmark Centre in Beachwood.
March 3: “Literature: Explorations of the Human Experience” by Peter Yang, associate professor of German and Chinese at CWRU
March 10: “Medicine: Oxygen Levels and Physiological Functions in Humans” by Cynthia Beall, Distinguished University Professor and S. Idell Pyle professor of anthropology at CWRU
March 17: “Economics: Experimental Approaches to Alleviating Global Poverty” by David Clingingsmith, associate professor of economics at the Weatherhead School of Management
March 24: “Physics: The Infancy of the Universe and Worlds Beyond Our Solar System” by Glenn Starkman, Distinguished University Professor and co-chair of physics at CWRU and Benjamin Monreal, associate professor of physics at CWRU
March 31: “Chemistry: New Developments In Lithium-Ion Batteries” by Daniel Scherson, Frank Hovorka professor of chemistry and director of the Ernest B. Yeager Center for Electrochemical Sciences at CWRU
April 7: “Peace: Promotion of Peace in Ethiopia” by Avidan Y. Cover, associate professor of law at the Case Western Reserve University School of Law and Director of the Institute for Global Security Law & Policy
