Gary Wnek, the Joseph F. Toot Jr. Professor of Engineering; Alexis Abramson, professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering; David Schiraldi, professor and chair of the Department of Macromolecular Science and Engineering; and Bill Yu, associate professor of civil engineering, received a $600,000 grant from the National Science Foundation’s Partnership for Innovation Program for “Renewable Resource Materials: Developing a New Platform with a Purpose.”
The project focuses on translating research to potential commercial applications from renewable resources such as those found in clay, algae, waste plastics, paints and oils, and animal waste. CWRU and four small businesses will work together to explore a new model of cooperation. For more information on the project, click here.
