What makes some ideas “stick” in people’s minds long after they have heard them, while other things seem to fade? A book called Made to Stick: Why some ideas survive and others die, by Chip and Dan Heath, explores this phenomenon and the factors that help to make ideas stay vividly and indelibly in the minds of people.
The next UCITE session’s discussion will be based on ideas in the book concerning the underlying causes of the “stickiness” of ideas. Attendees will discuss how that knowledge can be adapted to the benefit of faculty so what is taught is more likely to leave a lasting impression in the minds of students.
This session will be held from noon to 1 p.m. in the Herrick Room of the Allen Memorial Library Building at the corner of Adelbert Road and Euclid Avenue.
