Hear from university leadership on promotion and tenure during UCITE session

UCITE will hold a session on promotion and tenure Sept. 27, led by Provost W.A. “Bud” Baeslack, Deputy Provost Lynn Singer and Lois Langell, special assistant to the provost.

The typical criteria for tenure and promotion are scholarship, teaching and service. All universities subscribe to this but how these terms are interpreted can vary from institution to institution, school to school, and even department to department. Learning how they are applied and measured at Case Western Reserve is an important aspect of becoming familiar with the culture of the institution.

During their talk, Baeslack, Singer and Langell will share what the university is looking for and how faculty members should set about preparing their case for tenure, as well as answer any questions. This session is geared toward faculty members who are either tenured, on the tenure track or anticipate a tenure track position some day.

This session will be held from noon to 1 p.m. in the Herrick Room of the Allen Memorial Library Building, on the corner of Adelbert Road and Euclid Avenue.
Pizza and sodas will be provided. RSVP to ucite@case.edu.
