[U]Tech launches new software streaming service

University Technology ([U]Tech) has launched a new software streaming service for the 2019-20 academic year. “MyApps” provides a virtual desktop environment with access to run all of the software licensed to any Case Western Reserve University community member based on program of study, course enrollment or role at the university—without the need for installation on a computer.

Users can open and save files on any personal device storage, USB drives, Box accounts and network drives.

MyApps is compatible with:

  • Windows
  • Mac
  • iOS
  • Android
  • ChromeOS
  • Major Linux distributions
  • Or by running directly in an HTML5-compatible web browser

Benefits of MyApps include the ability to:

  • Stream software instantly without having to install;
  • Access software from any device, even public computers through the MyApps portal;
  • Work remotely with a consistent environment; and
  • Have consistent performance regardless of device.
