You never know what a college experience at Case Western Reserve University might bring. That’s what Colleen Hosler—president of the Panhellenic Council, sister in Kappa Alpha Theta and member of the Orientation Executive Board—realized when she started here three years ago. Now in the first year of a 3+2 program at the Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences, working toward her master’s degree in social work, the Pittsburgh native has embraced life at CWRU since her first day on campus.
Find out more about Hosler.
1. What’s on your iPod?
Ben Folds, Fitz and the Tantrums, Adele, Israel Kamakawiwo’ole, Lupe Fiasco, Death Cab for Cutie, Jack Johnson—I like a wide variety of music!
2. What’s your favorite spot in Cleveland and why?
I absolutely love the Botanical Gardens. I love warm weather and beautiful flowers, and I can experience that in the Costa Rican Rain Forest even in the middle of the harsh, cold winter (although it’s nice to have snowy days every once in a while, too!).
3. If you could only take three books with you to a deserted island, what would you take?
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupery
4. What one word would you use to describe yourself, and what one word would your friends use to describe you?
I would describe myself as enthusiastic; I tend to put a lot of effort and energy into everything that I do. I think my friends would describe me as dedicated.
5. What’s your favorite thing about Case Western Reserve University?
I love the opportunities. I came to CWRU not knowing what I wanted out of my college experience, and unexpectedly found that it had so much to offer. Little did I know that I would become involved with Greek Life, Orientation, go on mission trips to Russia and Laos, and become a graduate student in social work all in four years. The best advice I can give to CWRU students is to get involved, because you never know where you will find your passion.
