36th Van Horn Distinguished Lecture Series to be held March 20-22

The Department of Materials Science and Engineering will present the 36th Van Horn Distinguished Lectures March 20-22 in Glennan Building 421.

Each year, the Van Horn Distinguished Lecture Series features a distinguish professor to campus. This year, Michael Finnis, professor of the theory and simulation of materials at Imperial College in London, will lead three lectures: March 20, 21 and 22 at 4:15 p.m.

Group discussions and informal seminars are anticipated in order to share Finnis’ experience and insights.

The Van Horn Distinguished Lecture Series owes its inception in 1974 and its continuation to Frank R. Van Horn whose memory is enshrined in the department’s

Van Horn Memorial Library and in the University’s Van Horn Athletic Field.

All lectures in the 2012 Van Horn Distinguished Lecture Series are free and open to the public.
