“This scholarship was a reminder to ‘keep on keeping on.’ It meant that not only is someone recognizing my accomplishments, someone is watching after me, and has my back.”

The Office of Multicultural Affairs is hosting the 30th Annual Unity Banquet and Scholarship Benefit on Friday, April 17, and will award scholarships to assist with tuition costs, research, national career-related conference attendance, participation in study abroad or service trips. OMA is accepting applications for the Scholarship Award, which was established to support the success, retention, and college experience of underrepresented students. Scholarship recipients and one guest will receive complimentary admission to the Unity Banquet, where the awards will be formally presented.
OMA awards up to $10,000 each spring in recognition of underrepresented students and their achievements. Campus departments are encouraged to support the scholarship fund by purchasing a table and attending the event. Political commentator, author and professor Melissa Harris-Perry will be the keynote speaker for the event.
