The Department of History will host the 2017 African American Postdoctoral Guest Lecture Friday, April 14, from 12:45 to 2 p.m. in Mather House, Room 100.
Kenneth Janken, director of the University of North Carolina’s Center for Study of the American South, will present a lecture titled “An Intellectual History of Post World War II Black Freedom Struggle.”
With a special emphasis on ideological clashes in the post-war decades, his lecture will focus on the emergence of, as well as the intramovement struggles over the directions of, a many-sided African-American freedom struggle.
Coffee, tea and dessert will be provided at the event.
