Weigh in on the ”new” Middle East during Friday’s Public Affairs Discussion Group

As conflicts and political unrest continue in the Middle East, the changes brought on by the Arab Spring are being called into question.

At the next Public Affairs Discussion Group, Pete W. Moore, associate professor of political science, will lead a discussion titled “A (Really) New Middle East.” Moore and his colleagues’ book, Beyond the Arab Spring: Authoritarianism and Democratization in the Arab World, was released in October. He will share his perceptions on what is happening now and what is especially important.

The discussion will take place Friday, Feb. 1, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in the Dampeer Room of the Kelvin Smith Library.

Since 1989, faculty, emeriti, students and staff have gathered on Fridays for a brown-bag lunch and to discuss topics in public affairs.
