Webinar: “New CWRU Tools You Can Use: Canvas and Box”

The Administrative Professionals Network will offer a webinar titled “New CWRU Tools You Can Use: Canvas and Box” Wednesday, Feb. 8, from noon to 1 p.m.

Register for the webinar.

Canvas

Genevieve Mathieson Kilmer and Lauren Rogers, teaching and learning designers/technologists, will lead the discussion on Canvas.

Canvas is the new learning management system that will replace Blackboard at CWRU by fall 2017. Rogers and Mathieson Kilmer from University Technology ([U]Tech) will talk about the transition between the two systems and what it means for staff and faculty who currently use Blackboard. They will offer an overview of some of the most powerful and useful features in the system.

They also will talk about how individuals can get access to Canvas to try it out.

Box

Melissa Wicinski, marketing and communications manager for [U]Tech, and Erin Fogarty, information assurance analyst in the Information Security Office, will lead the discussion on Box.

Box is a storage service that will enable Case Western Reserve University to store, access and share files securely. Because Box is hosted in the cloud, it can be reached anywhere, anytime and from different kinds of devices.

It also can be used to store restricted, confidential data, such as financial information. Box is the only approved platform for storing restricted data in the cloud at Case Western Reserve.
