Colleges join plan for faster computer networks
The New York Times: Gig.U, a project from a coalition of 29 U.S. universities to build ultra-high-speed computer networks, launched Wednesday. The one-gigabit network connections will be critical to the universities but also homes and businesses in the area. “It’s a sandbox for the research community and the residents, too,” said chief information officer Lev Gonick.
