Train to be a street medic during the Republican National Convention

Street Medic logoTrain with the School of Medicine to be a street medic during the Republican National Convention July 18-21.

Street medics will provide first aid to people involved in direct actions at the convention.

Training will be held July 8-10. A 20-hour training program will be offered to individuals of any experience level. In addition, an eight-hour option will be available to medical professionals who would like to volunteer as street medics.

Training topics will include:

  • Street medic history;
  • Initial assessment/identifying life threats;
  • Scene safety/police tactics and weapons;
  • Basic first aid for the wide range of things commonly encountered at protests;
  • Integrating with EMS;
  • Street medics ethics and protocols;
  • Preventive/aftercare;
  • Self care
  • Skill drills; and
  • Scenarios.
