Squire Valleevue and Valley Ridge Farms offer foraging classes

Learn how to safely identify, sustainably harvest and prepare wild flora and fungi in foraging classes at Squire Valleevue and Valley Ridge Farms.

The classes, offered by the Siegal Lifelong Learning Program, will take place at the farm (37125 Fairmount Blvd.) from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on three Saturdays: May 26, June 2 and June 9.

Ryan Bennett, farm food program coordinator for the farm, will lead the sessions. Bennett has spent the last 10 years foraging throughout northeast Ohio for local restaurants.

The classes involve a large amount of hiking through the woods, so boots or hiking shoes, long pants, water bottles, bug spray and sunscreen are highly recommended.

Sessions will be open to a minimum of six and a maximum of 12 participants and will cost $75.

For more information, contact the farm office at 216.368.0274.
