School of Law’s Michael Scharf publishes article, serves as chair of piracy working group

Michael Scharf, John Deaver Drinko – Baker & Hostetler Professor of Law and director of the Frederick K. Cox International Law Center, is serving as chair of the High Level Piracy Working Group in Washington, D.C. The group is composed of two dozen experts from academia, government and law firms and aims to provide legal and policy advice to domestic, regional and international counter-piracy mechanisms. Law student Cameron McLeod is serving as the working group’s rapporteur.

Additionally, Scharf’s article, “Universal Jurisdiction and the Crime of Aggression,” will be published in the Harvard Journal of International Law, and he will be a guest blogger on Opinio Juris, a premier international law blog.
