Renowned poet to lead poetry, performance workshop March 29

Michael Salinger, a renowned poet and educator, will present a workshop in poetry and performance, titled “Outspoken–Figuratively Speaking.” His workshop, sponsored by the Popular Culture Working Group, will take place March 29 from 12:30 to 1:50 p.m. in Clark Hall 309.

The workshop will help attendees hone their use of imagery, metaphor and narration to enhance the quality of their poetry and performance. He will lead instructive writing exercises and then provide tips and tricks for the stage.

Salinger has been writing and performing poetry and fiction for more than 25 years. He has become a fixture in the poetry and education community, performing and teaching in more than 140 cities in 26 countries. He is the founder and chief facilitator of the teen writing and performance program at Cleveland’s Playhouse Square Foundation. His latest collection, Stingray from Wordsmith Press, was nominated for a Pushcart Prize.
