The Chronicle of Higher Education: When members of the feminist punk collective Pussy Riot staged a “punk prayer” in a Moscow cathedral—and were subsequently arrested—many of the group’s supporters viewed their motivation as atheistic indignation toward religion. But, as Timothy Beal, Florence Harkness Professor of Religion, examined the group’s relationship with theology, he found their closing statements “reveal just how central lived theology is to their activism.”
