Homecoming 2015 logoCase Western Reserve University will welcome alumni, faculty, staff, students, family and friends to campus Oct. 8-11 for the Homecoming & Reunion Celebration—a weekend filled with more than 100 programs and events spanning schools and interests.

With just more than two weeks until homecoming 2015 kicks off, there’s still time to register. Read on for a brief preview of what’s in store, and view the full schedule online at case.edu/homecoming.

Festivities unofficially begin Wednesday night with a Cleveland Alumni Welcome Reception at The Spot & Fireside Lounge.

Then, start the weekend with the Blue Block Party opening event Thursday evening at Toby’s Plaza in Uptown.

On Friday, in addition to traditional reunion receptions, there will be plenty of opportunities to see Case Western Reserve University’s innovations and collaborative efforts. From 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., learn about our interprofessional education efforts during “The Future of Patient Care: Our New Health Education Campus,” hosted by the Frances Payne School of Nursing; Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel School of Applied Sciences; School of Medicine; and School of Dental Medicine. That afternoon, from 3 to 4:30 p.m., hear about plans for think[ box ]—one of the largest university-based innovation centers in the world—during the panel discussion, “An Ecosystem of Innovation: think[ box ], FUSION and Entrepreneurship,” hosted by Weatherhead School of Management, the School of Law and Case School of Engineering.

Take a midday break to refuel and learn about the state of the university at the annual homecoming luncheon. Held from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the Tinkham Veale University Center, the luncheon is an opportunity for the entire campus community to hear from President Barbara R. Snyder and also see the winners of The Alumni Association Awards.

Friday evening, from 7 to 9:30 p.m. in the Tinkham Veale University Center ballroom, find out what CWRU has to offer outside of the classroom at the Showcase of Stars, where students will celebrate their talents through dance, song and a variety of performances.

On Saturday, lace up early—7 a.m.—for the Stephanie Tubbs Jones 5K race. Then, join fellow alumni, students and friends to watch the homecoming parade and have a tailgate lunch before heading over to watch the Spartans take on the Waynesburg University Yellow Jackets (kickoff is at 1:30 p.m.).

Throughout the weekend, family and friends can enjoy a variety of tours, including an open house self-guided tour of the Dittrick Museum of Medical History, a look at think[ box ] in the newly renovated Richey-Mixon Building and a graduate-student-led tour of the Cleveland Museum of Art.

Events will conclude Sunday at 4 p.m. with the 10th annual Stephanie Tubbs Jones Gospelfest Concert Celebration.

Registration for some events closes Oct. 1, so sign up now. For more information and to see a full schedule, visit case.edu/homecoming.
