Provost Baeslack to hold student forum on tuition, room and board and more

Provost and Executive Vice President W.A. “Bud” Baeslack III invites students to attend an update regarding 2013-2014 tuition, room and board rates as well as program improvements planned for the next academic year.

The one-hour meeting will take place at 12:45 p.m. this Friday, Feb. 15, in Strosacker Auditorium. Refreshments will be provided.

“These meetings allow us to provide important information,” Provost Baeslack said, “and, even more, to hear directly from students about their experiences and expectations.”

In addition to reviewing proposed charges, Provost Baeslack also will discuss progress on the university’s strategic planning process. The existing five-year plan, Forward Thinking, concludes this summer. Several dozen faculty, staff and students have been working on a new document since the fall, with a goal of recommending a new document to the university’s trustees in June. Members of the provost’s leadership team also will present details of initiatives to enhance offerings for students in such areas as information technology, international affairs, library services, advising and progress toward degree. The session will include significant time for student questions as well.

“We appreciate the importance of providing students and their families ample notice regarding potential increases in tuition and other charges,” Provost Baeslack said. “We also recognize our responsibility to provide additional value for the investment made in a Case Western Reserve education.”
