As part of a Department of Education federal grant to support emergency preparedness on college campuses, Case Western Reserve will host a practice emergency exercise from 9 a.m. to approximately 2 p.m. Saturday, June 15.
Emergency and safety teams from the university, city of Cleveland, county, state and federal offices will participate in a simulation of how first responders and other partners would manage an actual incident. You may see emergency vehicles and officers on the south side of campus during the hours of the exercise. Several volunteers also will assist in the effort.
Please avoid the academic buildings on the south side of the Case Quad if possible. If your labs and offices are in the building(s) directly affected, you already have been notified and given directions regarding access to your space.
As part of the exercise, the university also will test Rave, the emergency notification system. The general campus community should not receive any communications, but in the event you receive a message in error, it will say “TEST” in the body of the message. If it does not say “TEST,” assume it is a real message and follow all instructions given.
