Physics’ Harsh Mathur has translated article published in Chinese physics journal

Professor of Physics Harsh Mathur’s article “An analysis of the LIGO discovery based on introductory physics” was translated and published in the Chinese journal Da Xue Wu Li. The article, originally published in August 2017 in the American Journal of Physics, was re-published as a result of an agreement that one article a month from the journal would be translated and published in Da Xue Wu Li.

In the article, Mathur explains the 2016 discovery of gravitational waves from colliding black holes in terms of introductory physics. Mathur sought to include introductory physics classrooms in the the excitement of the discovery, which verified a 100-year-old prediction by Albert Einstein and was recognized by the award of the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2017.
