“Overcoming Gender and Racial Barriers in Medicine”

In honor of Black History Month, the Daniel Hale Williams Pre-Med Society will host a talk with Virginia Dee Banks-Bright (MED ’74), chief of infectious disease at UPMC Horizon Health System in Hermitage, Pennsylvania.

Her lecture, titled “Overcoming Gender and Racial Barriers in Medicine,” will be held Wednesday, Feb. 22, at 7 p.m. in the Tinkham Veale University Center, ballroom A.

She will share the story of how she broke through race and gender barriers on her journey to becoming a physician.

Refreshments will be provided at the event.
