Ohio State College of Optometry Alumni Society recognizes Loretta Szczotka-Flynn with Distinguished Alumni Award

Loretta Szczotka-Flynn, professor in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, was named the 2017 Ohio State College of Optometry Alumni Society’s Distinguished Alumni Award recipient.

Szczotka-Flynn was honored at the Class of 2017 convocation, where she gave words of advice to the graduating class. Karla Zadnik, dean of the OSU College of Optometry, gave Szczotka-Flynn a gift during the ceremony.

She is the 10th recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Award.

Each year, a committee of Alumni Society Board members selects an alumnus who reflects “the College of Optometry through distinguished service to the profession, community and/or world.”

Bob Newcomb, a 1971 graduate of the college, nominated Szczotka-Flynn.

At a dinner after the commencement ceremony, fellow alumni, faculty, staff and family further recognized Szczotka-Flynn.
