The Beat Uptown continues tomorrow with Japanese cartoon superhero punk rock group

The Beat Uptown concert series will continue Thursday, Aug. 28, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Toby’s Plaza, located next to MOCA Cleveland.

The featured artist will be Peelander-Z, a cartoon superhero punk rock group from Japan whose music narrowly approaches performance art.

WRUW–FM 91.1 deejays will kick off the night’s entertainment at 6 p.m., followed by live music at 6:30 p.m.

This week will showcase the new “Great Picnic Table,” which has room for more than 100 people to gather around it.

Food trucks on site this week are Wok N Roll, Touch Supper Truck, Pig Lickin’ Good BBQ and DonutLab.

UPTOWN establishments will offer specials the following specials:

  • MOCA Cleveland: $5 general admission after 5 p.m. Skylight Financial Group funds the summer 2014 season.
  • ABC the Tavern: Full happy hour in the evening.
  • Cleveland Yoga: Happy hour yoga from 4:15 to 5:15 p.m. Cost is $5 to drop in and join the fun.
  • Wrapz Pita Bar: $5 wraps all day.

Case Western Reserve, the Cleveland Foundation, Toby Devan Lewis, MOCA Cleveland, Cleveland Institute of Art, Skylight Financial Group and MRN LTD. present the Beat UPTOWN.

Free event parking in designated Uptown lots is available after 5 p.m. every Thursday.
