Deputy Provost Lynn Singer named chairwoman of NIH Center for Scientific Review study section

Lynn T. Singer, deputy provost and vice president for academic affairs, has been named chairwoman of the Child Psychopathology and Developmental Disabilities Study Section of the National Institute of Health’s Center for Scientific Review. Her term begins July 1, 2013, and ends June 30, 2015.

The Center for Scientific Review is the gateway for NIH grant applications and scientific review. CSR’s peer review groups or study sections evaluate 70 percent of all research grant applications sent to NIH.

According to the CSR, the Child Psychopathology and Developmental Disabilities Study Section focuses on developmental disabilities and mental health disorders developed in infants, children, adolescents and young adults. Members examine behavioral, cognitive, socioemotional, neurobiological, behavioral and molecular genetic, and neuroimaging approaches.

Members of study sections are selected based on their demonstrated competence and achievement in their disciplines, such as the quality of research accomplishments, publications in scientific journals and other significant scientific activities, achievements and honors.
