Medicine’s Joseph LaManna discusses program for researchers to lobby lawmakers

With tighter budgets, researchers may be asked to lobby lawmakers on campuses

The Chronicle of Higher Education: The Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology is developing a program to recruit researchers to explain the importance of research spending to lawmakers. “These efforts are desperately needed, and we will rise to the challenge,” said the group’s current president Joseph C. LaManna, professor of neurology, physiology and biophysics, and neurosciences at the School of Medicine.
