Math, physics faculty discuss the importance of blackboards, pen and paper

Physicists, mathematicians turn to blackboards to answer universal questions

The Columbus Dispatch: Steven Izen, professor of mathematics, and Harsh Mathur, associate professor of physics, provide insight into the importance of the blackboard and pen and paper in mapping out mathematical problems. “It sometimes just helps to see a problem written large on a blackboard,” said Mathur. “It helps overcome the physics equivalent of writer’s block.”
