M.C. “Terry” Hokenstad, Distinguished University Professor, Ralph S. and Dorothy P. Schmitt Professor and professor of global health, recently returned from a European trip that included the launch of a book he co-edited, titled The Sage Handbook on International Social Work. The 540-page book covering the global dimension of social work debuted at the World Conference on Social Work and Social Development in Stockholm, Sweden.
In addition to co-editing the book, Hokenstad, a faculty member in the Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences, wrote several chapters, including “Social Work Education: The International Dimension” and “Older Persons and Social Work: A Global Perspective.” Authors of the rest of the 30 chapters came from across the world.
At the conference, Hokenstad also led a workshop, called “Teaching Human Rights,” and presented on human rights education.
