“Leveraging Your Rights as an Author: Copyright, Publishing and Authors’ Rights”

The fourth Increasing your Scholarly Impact session, a part of the University Libraries Workshop Series, will cover “Leveraging Your Rights as an Author: Copyright, Publishing and Authors’ Rights.” It will take place Thursday, Nov. 9, from 5 to 6 p.m. in Kelvin Smith Library, Room 215.

The Increasing your Scholarly Impact series tackles the challenge of navigating promotion and tenure.

Topics will include protecting work from predatory publishers, negotiating publishing contracts, navigating copyright law and utilizing open licenses to promote scholarship while retaining control of it.

Other topics will be:

  • Copyright for authors;
  • Publishing contracts and restrictions;
  • Embargoes;
