Learn how to “teach for transfer” at June 10 UCITE event

While many in higher education speak of the value of critical thinking, faculty often feel intense time pressures or do not have sufficient strategies to seamlessly integrate critical thinking into instruction.

This week, the University Center for Innovation in Teaching and Education will host Associate Professor of Music Education Matthew Garrett, who will:

  • Provide research-based context for transfer as critical thinking,
  • Share learning strategies through which students can develop the cognitive behavior of transfer, and
  • Identify assessment tools that can appropriately measure the development of this critical thinking skill in university learning environments.

The event will be held Friday, June 10, from noon to 1 p.m. in in the Allen Memorial Medical Library’s Herrick Room (use Adelbert Road doors).

Pizza and sodas will be provided at this session.
