Learn about beekeeping with University Farm course

Two people beekeepingThe University Farm is offering a beekeeping course, “The ABCs of Honey Bees,” this fall.

The course will cover all aspects of beginning beekeeping, honey bee biology and diseases, and hive management. Weather permitting, students will be able to participate in hives inspection, including observation of brood, honey and pollen cells.

Richard Manley, a University Farm beekeeping consultant for more than four years and Board of Health inspector for Geauga County, will instruct the course.

The course, which costs $70 per participant, will be held Saturday, Oct. 15, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

A minimum of five participants will be required to offer the course.
