Join LGBT Center May 1 for Lavender Graduation, recognizing LGBT graduating students

On May 1, the LGBT Center at Case Western Reserve University will host Lavender Graduation at 6 p.m. in the Alumni House.

Lavender Graduation is an annual ceremony and celebration honoring LGBT graduating seniors and graduate students from Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland Institute of Art and Cleveland Institute of Music.

In addition to recognizing graduates, the LGBT Center will present the Prism Award to an office on campus in recognition of going above and beyond in creating a welcoming space for LGBT individuals at CWRU. The center also will award the Douglas W. Nock Scholarship to a student who has advanced the mission of the LGBT community at CWRU.

The evening will include light refreshments and feature remarks by President Barbara R. Snyder and a performance by the brothers of Sigma Nu, who will sing an encore of their Greek Week rendition of “Same Love.”

All members of the campus community are welcome to attend. An online RSVP is required.

Graduating students interested in being recognized can use the same link to RSVP, and should select “Graduating Student.”
