Get in the giving spirit: Participate in Charity Choice campaign through Dec. 18

The Charity Choice campaign returns to Case Western Reserve University this fall, giving the faculty, staff and students the opportunity to help those less fortunate. Campaign organizers encourage everyone to give—no matter how small the donation.

Campaign leaders hope to attract at least 750 participants and to raise at least $185,000.

Donors can contribute through Dec. 18, whether through a single donation or through payroll deductions.

This year’s Charity Choice chairs are Lynn T. Singer, deputy provost and vice president for academic affairs, and Jeffrey L. Duerk, dean of the Case School of Engineering.

“Charity Choice gives all of us in the CWRU community an opportunity to join together to provide critical resources to important local initiatives that help our children, neighbors, schools and environment,” Singer said.

Individuals can participate through the university’s three primary organizational partners:

  • United Way of Greater Cleveland, the leading convener and funder of partnerships focused on solutions for the community’s health and human service priorities.
  • Greater Cleveland Community Shares, the only Northeast Ohio workplace-giving federation focused on advocacy and social change. For 23 years, its member organizations have worked to meet community needs and support social justice through advocacy, education and empowerment.
  • EarthShare Ohio, a federation working to raise donations for local, regional and national nonprofit conservation and environmental organizations.

Donors also can designate any independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit to receive their support through Charity Choice. In other words, any gift Case Western Reserve employees make to churches, synagogues, mosques or other nonprofit organizations can be made through Charity Choice.

Donations can be made now through Dec. 18 online through HCM or by paper form as a one-time payment or multiple payroll deductions. “Charity Choice is a wonderful mechanism for our faculty and staff to meet their annual philanthropic goals, to support their normal charities directly through our payroll deduction system, and for us to receive full recognition of the generosity of the Case Western Reserve family,” Duerk said.
