GELS takes home top honor in CWRU’s Ethics Bowl

The Ethics Bowl at Case Western Reserve University, hosted Jan. 30 by the Academic Integrity Board, pitted student organizations against each other in a bracket format to explore ethical issues spanning from corporate ethics to education.

Each team was given 11 scenarios to study and prepare before the competition. Once the competition began, each team was given two minutes to answer a question pertaining to the ethical issues within a specified scenario, followed by a time for questions from the judges. Points were awarded based upon focus on ethical issues, intelligibility of the argument, and deliberation on the ethical components.

Global Ethical Leaders Society (GELS) defeated Sigma Nu in the final round to win first place in the Ethics Bowl Competition. Third place was awarded to Alpha Phi Omega.
