“Extreme Vetting Effect: Refugee Workers & Cleveland Business”

The IDEA Club will host a panel discussion titled “Extreme Vetting Effect: Refugee Workers & Cleveland Business” Monday, Feb. 13, from noon to 1 p.m. in Peter B. Lewis Building, Room 203.

Panelists will look at President Donald Trump’s recent executive order halting the entrance of refugees across the nation, and how it will affect Cleveland businesses that rely on refugee workers.

The panel will feature:

  • Danielle Drake, community relations manager of US Together Inc., a nonprofit servicing the needs of recently arrived refugee families in Cleveland;
  • Chas Grossman, president of National Safety Apparel, which produces heat and thermal protective apparel designed, manufactured and sold from Cleveland; and
  • Dan T. Moore, president and CEO of the Dan T. Moore Co., a large manufacturing and holding company focused on finding and solving unmet industrial needs.

Both National Safety Apparel and the Dan T. Moore Co. employ refugee workers to meet their needs,

Michael Goldberg, assistant professor of design and innovation, will moderate the event.
