Doctors have to manage smartphone distractions

American Medical News: Surveys show that more than 80 percent of doctors carry smartphones, raising concerns about how these distractions could hurt patients. Physicians should turn off email notifications and other apps, said Neil Mehta, director of education technology at Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine. “Doctors need to find the right balance for using these devices while putting the patients’ interests first.”
