The next Diversity 360 Lunch & Learn session will be held Friday, April 6, at 12:45 p.m. in Thwing Center, Room 224. A collaboration among the Office for Inclusion, Diversity, & Equal Opportunity, Office of Multicultural Affairs, LGBT Center and International Student Services, this session is titled “Understanding Changes in SIS Student Name and Personal Pronoun Options.” It is open to the campus community.

The lunch will consist of a brief presentation followed by an open dialogue directed by the university’s national award-winning Sustained Dialogue facilitators.

All are welcome to attend, but those interested must RSVP in order to guarantee lunch, which will include vegan and gluten-free options. RSVP to regina.gonzalez@case.edu and include any special requests for meal options.

About the discussion

Identifiers such as name, gender and personal pronouns are core factors to many students’ senses of self. The newest update to the Student Information System (SIS) will include fields for students to indicate personal pronouns, prefixes and gender.

In light of the update, AmariYah Israel, of the professional staff in the LGBT Center, and Elizabeth Miller, assistant director in International Student Services, will discuss the upcoming changes to SIS, why the changes are important and how to adapt to the changes.

They also will share resources and programming available to support the campus community.
