Professor Fady Faddoul has been named chairman of the Department of Comprehensive Care at the School of Dental Medicine. In addition to housing the clinical components of the school’s Doctor of Dental Medicine program, the department includes the Advanced Education in General Dentistry Program, which Faddoul directed from 1992 until his chairmanship appointment. He will continue to serve as the infection control and safety officer for the school and to direct both its implant program and faculty practice.
“Our preceptor and comprehensive care program is one of the longest standing and most admired in the country—I am confident that this signature asset for our school will thrive under the leadership of Dr. Faddoul,” noted Dean Kenneth Chance.
Faddoul (DEN ’88, ’92) has published and lectured extensively, both nationally and internationally, on the topics of implants, infection control, medical emergencies and the management of medically compromised patients.
An active member of organized dentistry, he is a past president of the Greater Cleveland Dental Society and remains on the board. Additionally, he is a consultant for the Commission on Dental Accreditation and the Commission on Dental Competency Assessments as well as a member of the Organization of Safety and Aseptic Procedures, among others.
“With the quick pace of dental advancements—from emerging technology to new products—CWRU is dedicated to being at the forefront for the benefit of both our patients and students,” said Faddoul. “It is a privilege to lead this department during this exciting time in dentistry and I thank Dean Kenneth Chance for this opportunity.”
