Deadline for ITS Active Learning Fellowship, May 24

The deadline for the Active Learning Fellowship is 5 p.m., on Friday, May 24. Any faculty member with a continuing appointment may apply.

The Active Learning Fellowship is open to faculty members with continuing appointments who wish to develop or redesign a semester-long course to use an active learning environment and integrate it into the course curriculum. Three planned active learning environments are scheduled to be ready to use during the fall 2013 term.

More information on the environments can be found at classroomredesign.blogspot.com.

Faculty members who are awarded the fellowship are expected to develop or redesign a semester-long course so it uses the active learning environment and integrates it into the course curriculum. Faculty members must deliver the course in the 2013-2014 academic year, participate in a learning community, participate in assessment of the course and commit to delivering the course at least one more time in the next two years.

Faculty members who participate in the fellowship will implement an active learning strategy in a course to demonstrate the effective use of time and technology for the benefit of instruction. They will receive assistance with the assessment of effectiveness of the techniques used and will receive priority scheduling for use of newly updated and remodeled classroom spaces.

Workshops for the fellowship will be held: July 8, 9, 15, 16, 22 and 23, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Attendance will be required at all sessions.

A stipend will be created for each faculty member who participates in the active learning fellowship program.
